Hong Kong’s printing and publishing industry has a long history. After years of development, Hong Kong has emerged to be one of the four printing centres and one of the three Chinese language publishing centres in the world. It is the largest creative sector in Hong Kong in terms of the number of persons engaged. Facing the age of new media, Hong Kong’s printing and publishing industry has been devoted to innovation in keeping up its development while continuing the pursuit of creativity and vitality.
CCIDA funds the setting up of “Soaring Creativity – Hong Kong Pavilion” at the major book fairs in the Mainland and Europe for years to assist the printing and publishing industry in expanding markets, and “The Next Writer Publication Funding Scheme”, “Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards” and “Hong Kong Smart e-Book Hub” to nurture local budding writers, recognise outstanding Chinese language publications published in Hong Kong and promote the industry’s transformation respectively. Since 2023, Hong Kong has been actively participating in “Shenzhen Reading Month” to foster “SZ-HK Co-reading”.
