The use of special effects materials in entertainment programmes is regulated under the Entertainment Special Effects Ordinance (Cap.560) and its subsidiary legislation with regard to the supply, use, conveyance and storage of such materials.
The Special Effects Licensing Section in CCIDA is responsible for regulating the use of special effects materials in film, TV and advertising productions, as well as concerts, theatrical and theme park performances. It also issues permits for the discharge of special effects materials. As a result, the practitioners can produce special effects under appropriate circumstances, enabling the smooth operation of all kinds of entertainment programmes and activities and facilitating the development of creative industries.
