The Chairman of the Hong Kong Film Development Council (FDC), Mr Ma Fung-kwok, today (April 16) congratulated actress Teresa Mo and actor Ling Man-lung, who won Best Actress and Best New Performer respectively at the 37th Hong Kong Film Awards with the Film Development Fund (FDF)-financed film "Tomorrow Is Another Day".
Mr Ma said, "The Film Production Financing Scheme, launched in July 2007, has supported many small- to medium-budget film productions. Seeing 'Tomorrow Is Another Day' scoop trophies at this year's Hong Kong Film Awards proves that small- to medium-budget films can also attain impressive achievements."
Mr Ma said that it is very encouraging to see a film project financed by the FDF winning Hong Kong Film Awards prizes. He expressed the hope that the FDC would continue to take up the mission to groom budding talents and promote the development of the film industry, following the theme of this year's award ceremony, to bring momentum to the local film industry.
The Film Production Financing Scheme aims to provide limited finance for small- to medium-budget film productions with the objectives of encouraging more commercial investment in film productions, creating a larger mass of film activity and employment opportunities, and assisting the Hong Kong film industry to revitalise and develop further.
