The "Confluence · 20+ Creative Ecologies of Hong Kong" exhibition was launched in Seoul, Korea, today (August 25) to showcase the achievements of Hong Kong designers.
Presented by the Hong Kong Design Centre, "Confluence‧20+" is a roving exhibition series with exhibits from 20 groups of outstanding local designers. The exhibition series, sponsored by Create Hong Kong, is also one of the events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It was presented in Milan in April and Hong Kong in June. Seoul is the third stop of the roving exhibition and the exhibition is supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) (HKETO Tokyo).
Speaking at a reception before the opening ceremony, the Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), Ms Shirley Yung, said that creative industries play an increasingly important role in the economy, and Hong Kong and Korea share a common interest in supporting the creative industries to flourish.
"In 2014, the governments of Hong Kong and Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Co-operation in the Creative Industries. The MOU covers various creative sectors. Potential co-operation initiatives are wide-ranging, and certainly include exchange and participation in each other's events," Ms Yung said.
The exhibition is being held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza until September 16.
