Create Hong Kong today (March 15) launched the 4th First Feature Film Initiative (FFFI) to continue to identify and nurture prospective film production talent through a competition focusing on screenplays and production proposals, with a view to injecting new blood and promoting the sustainable development of Hong Kong's film industry.
A spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said, "Launched in March 2013, the FFFI has been widely supported by the industry and has gradually built up its brand. The scheme has proved its worth in identifying a new generation of film talents and nurturing young directors.
"To attract more young people to join the film industry, the number of prizes for the Higher Education Institution Group will increase to two while the Professional Group will, as before, offer one prize. The director of each participating team shall not have previously shot any commercial film of 80 minutes or above."
The Film Development Fund will provide funding for the winning teams to implement their film proposals and make their first commercial feature films. The level of grant for each winning team for the Higher Education Institution Group is $3.25 million and that for the Professional Group is $5.5 million.
The 4th FFFI is open to application from today to August 15. For details of the scheme, please visit the FFFI Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HKFFFI) or the website of the FFFI (www.ccidahk.gov.hk/fffi/en/).
