The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (September 2) congratulated Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan for receiving an honorary Governors Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in recognition of his lifetime achievement in the film industry.
Mr So said, "Mr Chan started his motion picture career at a very young age and rose to worldwide success. His acting and dazzling stunt work entertained audiences around the world for decades. The honorary Oscar represents an international recognition for his achievement and is a great encouragement to our local film industry."
Mr So said that the vibrant Hong Kong film industry has, over the years, seen a number of outstanding actors and actresses rise to stardom locally and internationally.
"The Government will continue to implement measures to help facilitate the development of film industry," he said.
