The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will visit Germany from tomorrow (March 6) to March 8 to promote co-operation between Hong Kong and the country in creative sectors.
Germany is the 2011 partner country of Hong Kong's Business of Design Week (BODW), a project sponsored by CCIDAHK and organised by the Hong Kong Design Centre. Since its launch in 2002, BODW has developed into one of the most significant annual design events in the world.
During her stay in Berlin, Mrs Lau will meet the State Secretary of Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, Dr Bernd Pfaffenbach, to learn about Germany's preparation for the BODW 2011 and to exchange views on issues of common concern. She will also have dinner with the Chinese Ambassador to Germany, Mr Wu Hongbo.
Taking the opportunity, Mrs Lau will visit a number of design firms, creative industry facilities and museums in Berlin. She will also attend a reception hosted by the German Design Council.
On March 8, Mrs Lau will visit Barcelona, Spain to learn about the operations and management of cruise terminal facilities there.
She will be back to Hong Kong on March 10.
