The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will leave for Shanghai today (September 13) to attend the "Hong Kong ICT Week @ Expo", an HKSAR programme for Expo 2010 Shanghai China, to showcase Hong Kong's latest developments in information and communications technology (ICT) and digital entertainment.
Mrs Lau will speak at the opening of the ICT Elite Forum which provides an excellent platform for exchanges between Hong Kong's key ICT industry players and their Shanghai counterparts. She will also witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and the Shanghai Yang Pu Centre Development Company Limited (Shanghai Knowledge and Innovation Community, KIC) to enhance bilateral ICT cooperation, as well as attend the Hong Kong ICT Week gala dinner.
Mrs Lau will visit the Hong Kong Ani-Com Carnival at the Grand Gateway Shopping Mall. The carnival is the largest-ever comics and animation event staged by Hong Kong, featuring an exhibition of 30 giant cartoon characters and other activities. She will also visit the KIC to see how the project helps create an environment fostering technological innovation and entrepreneurship in Shanghai.
