The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will visit Italy and France between May 13 and 18 to promote co-operation in wine trading, tourism and Hong Kong's film industry.
Mrs Lau will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Co-operation in Wine-Related Businesses between Hong Kong and Italy - the fifth such MOU with wine production countries/regions. She will call on the minister in charge of economic development and have meetings with a senator, the head of the Italian trade commission and dignitaries from the Italian trade and tourism sectors.
2009 marks the 100th anniversary of Hong Kong's film industry. To express the government's staunch support of the development of the film industry, Mrs Lau will join a local film industry delegation to attend the "Marche du Film and Festival de Cannes" in France and officiate at the "China Night: Celebration of 100 Years of Hong Kong Cinema" reception to promote film productions by both Hong Kong and the Mainland in the international arena.
Mrs Lau will be back in Hong Kong on May 19.
