The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will be in France between March 4 and 7 to visit leading establishments in the creative and technology application sectors.
Mrs Lau will visit Paris as well as Lille in northern France, which is one of the more creative regional metropolitan areas in France. She will have high level exchanges with policy makers, design house and museum directors, architects, manufacturers renowned for innovation and technological advancement, and leaders in creative industry education.
France is the 2009 partner country for Hong Kong's Business of Design Week, which is regarded as one of the most significant annual events on the international design calendar. Upon arrival in Paris, Mrs Lau will have a meeting with the Minister of State responsible for foreign trade, Madam Anne-Marie Idrac, who is also responsible for creative industries. She will also attend a dinner hosted by the Minister for the Economy, Industry and Employment, Mrs Christine Lagarde, and call on the Chinese Ambassador to France, Mr Kong Quan.
Mrs Lau will return to Hong Kong on Sunday (March 8).
